The project in detail

The good news is: Knepper is creating space for something new - and on time. When we are finished, the site will be ready for a new development, no matter how big it is. To achieve this goal, our departments are working hand in hand. In addition to the demolition department, the recycling, logistics and scheduling departments have done a great job here.

A modern logistics center is now being built on the 90,000 m² site of the former Ford plant.

Before the demolition, there were nine halls on the site, which stretched to the right and left of Henry Ford Strasse II and were connected by a building bridge. The demolition of such a large industrial site requires a lot of experience, manpower and special technical equipment.

Good planning is half the battle

Time is the decisive factor in every project. In order not to lose any, the 30-strong Knepper team was accommodated directly on site in the hotel. We set up an internal workshop on site to ensure that there were no delays in the event of technical problems with the fleet. This meant that the machines could be maintained and repaired on site. The large construction site and the sequence of dismantling activities were precisely planned in advance and it was determined where which recycling materials would be stored in order to separate types well and keep logistics routes short. Our focus is on materials that can be recycled. We therefore also applied the BREEAM documentation for sustainable construction to this project.
