Lightening and dismantling of bridge superstructure

Together with our customer Heinrich Send, we dismantled an ageing steel bridge in 24-hour shift operation. The project presented us with a number of challenges due to the limited space and tight time frame.

But the plan worked: First, our earthworks team prepared an approximately 50-meter-long gravel bed as a storage area for the segments to be dismantled. Once we had removed the concrete roadway and sidewalks, the lightened structure could finally be pulled by a Terex CC3800 crawler crane from Franz Bracht. Our team then worked in 24-hour shifts to dismantle the superstructure segments, which weighed over 100 tons, and took over the partial dismantling of the abutments.
