Dismantling of plant components in a paper mill
This interesting modernization project was all about one thing: perfectly coordinated material flow management!
Work carried out
- Dismantling of plant components
- Scrapping and recycling / logistics
Machines in use
- Material handler
- Mobile excavators
- Compact excavator
- Flame cutting technology
At the paper mill, Model Sachsen Papier GmbH in Eilenburg, the order from the company Christof Industries was a mix of many parallel challenges:
- short time window for removing the old technology (minimizing downtime)
- limited space on site (compact building construction with a lack of storage space for dismantled material)
- dismantling, sorting, processing and removal in 24-hour shift operation
To meet these challenges, our teams needed a large number of personnel and machines on the one hand and perfectly coordinated site logistics on the other.
The dismantling of some parts of the paper mill was carried out in 24-hour shifts, during which time over 3,000 tons of material were handled - made up of scrap, aluminium and stainless steel and other fractions.
Our 3 specialist areas of demolition & dismantling, scrap & non-ferrous metals and logistics worked hand in hand for this customer project to sort and move these huge quantities of material - through this interaction we offered our customer the Knepper all-inclusive package: clean dismantling and professional disposal in a complete package.
Large plant components and those that required precise separation were dismantled and removed directly on site due to the limited space available. Our Scrap & Non-ferrous Metals department, with its good network in the market, and our in-house logistics department made a significant contribution to the success of the project and to optimal material flow management.
In a subsequent second step, further separation and sorting work took place at our depot in order to finally prepare the material for various recycling processes and return it to the material cycle.
Many thanks to the customer for their trust and to everyone involved in the project for their organization and great commitment. Such a complex project can only be successfully implemented through such good cooperation!
