When planning large logistics halls, precision in execution is just as important as reliable planning and budgeting. WK Erdbau supplied GRAUTHOFF with everything from a single source - and was already involved in the planning phase. A total area of 18,000 square meters had to be prepared and designed for the new building. Of this, the hall planum alone measured 10,000 square meters. WK Erdbau carried out all the work on the open spaces itself, from the traffic and drainage systems to the earth banks and lawn seeding. In all areas, man and machine worked together highly efficiently so that the site was perfectly prepared and handed over on time for the building construction work.
Anyone who has worked with a Knepper Group company once will do so again and again. Professional expertise, adherence to deadlines and reliability are highly valued by commercial clients, general construction companies and investors alike. GRAUTHOFF Holding also relies on good and solid partnerships rather than the cheapest supplier. "It's a great combination to be able to commission a specialized company for the complete civil engineering work, which belongs to a partner company with which we have been working very well for a long time. This was also important to us in terms of the warranty," summarizes Dietmar Holtkemper, client and Managing Director of GRAUTHOFF Holding. The WK Erdbau team was already involved in the planning of the new logistics hall, which is intended to accommodate the growth of the door group and bring together the previously decentralized logistics of three production sites. The necessary work was determined together with the planners and experts. For the Managing Director, this was also a benefit: "Mirco Menzel from WK Erdbau often favored practical solutions that were economical and better. We were able to rely on him 100 percent," says Dietmar Holtkemper, drawing a positive conclusion. "Our requirement was to have only one fixed contact person with Mr. Menzel. This allowed us to concentrate fully on our day-to-day business," he continues.
Precision played a decisive role in the production of a fine subgrade for the floor slab of the logistics hall. A deviation of just 1 cm in height means that the floor slab cannot be constructed as specified by the structural analysis. If the subgrade is too low, more concrete is required. In both cases, the costs increase. To create a subgrade with a maximum deviation of 0.5 cm, WK Erdbau uses state-of-the-art technology. First, the entire site was surveyed by drone and the data transferred to the automatic machine control system. As a result, the terrain removal and soil work as well as the application of the gravel base and sand layer are carried out with the highest possible precision. With the so-called "grader", WK Erdbau has a highly efficient exotic vehicle in its own fleet. The "grader" can not only push loose material precisely, but also mill off solid material to create an exactly level subgrade. The right vehicles were available on the construction site for every task: several tracked and hydraulic excavators in the 20 - 30 t range, smaller maneuverable wheel loaders up to 7 t and bulldozers. The machines were successfully controlled by differently specialized teams.
Sustainability is an important part of GRAUTHOFF's corporate philosophy. "When we take something from nature, we give something back," says the Managing Director. WK Erdbau also attaches great importance to the sustainable use of materials such as topsoil, which represents an ecologically valuable habitat. For example, 10,000 m³ of topsoil alone was moved and reintroduced elsewhere as topsoil, e.g. to revitalize previously sealed areas. In addition, 13,000 m³ of recycled gravel was placed on the site to conserve resources. GRAUTHOFF is highly satisfied with the results of the high-quality work carried out by WK Erdbau, as well as with the punctuality and adherence to the budget.
